From Toluca or
Morelia Airports we can send you a taxi to fetch you and drive you directly to
the center. We can also send you a taxi to the Mexico City Airport or you can
take a public bus to Zitácuaro at Observatorio Bus Station in the West side of
the City. In general it’s very safe to travel by Bus. Just while at the Bus
Station beware of your pockets and to avoid casualties as soon as you get your
ticket go inside the Private Waiting Hall they have which is very safe.
Visitors from
Canada have found very cheap flights to Manzanillo, in the West Coast, and then
traveled by Bus to Zitácuaro. It´s a 10 hours bus ride. You take a bus from
Manzanillo to Morelia and then take another one to Zitácuaro.
ONCE IN
ZITACUARO BUS STATION:
First Option:
Call “Taxi Ejecutivo” by phone
(they’ll fetch you in the main
big street in front of the Bus station so you have to walk one small block).
Second Option:
Take the taxi outside the bus station. The Bus station taxis are safe but they
use very old unities. Also some drivers tend to ask for more money than the
accepted rate. Normal rate is from 50 to 70 pesos. Make sure at the counter
where you will buy your taxi ticket before boarding the taxi, that the driver
knows where is Shambala (not all of them do), and some of them can end up taking
you to a different place.

(They are
not allowed to use the small street in front of the Bus Station so you have to
walk left hand to the main street and wait by the corner).
This taxis are also safe and they don’t try to charge more than the normal rate.
